Drake needs more than one reason to celebrate and pop bottles. This is after Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced the Canadian singer and rapper would receive the Artist of the Decade Award at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

In 2010 based on his performance, Drake received Billboard’s top artist. It was the first time Billboard released names of top-performing artists.

They included Aubrey Graham, followed closely by Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, and Adele.

Currently, Drake has a record of 27 awards, a number he garnered after taking home 12 awards in 2019. The awards have put Drake on the map as the artist with the most Billboard Music Awards.

Drake has broken barriers over the past decade by getting various Billboard chart records. They include having leading 33 top 10 songs on the Hot 100 and having nine Number one albums.

During the 23 May ceremony, the musician is up for seven awards, including the top artist trophy. Recently, the event organizers announced Pink would take home the Icon Award. The decision will help honor record-breaking artists and their contribution to the music industry.

The 2021 BBMAs edition will see singer and actor Nick Jonas host. Other top performers who will grace the event include singer Weekend, who’s ahead in the nominations with 16 nods.
