Keeping up with the Kardashians might have ended but we are keeping up with Kim’s shapewear skims. She was first published as a billionaire by Forbes in 2021 after launching her cosmetics KKW shortly after her sister Kylie Jenner’s cosmetic success.

The company gained popularity during the pandemic and since then it has been a major success.

In spite of its contentious origins, skims are still people's favorite. The shapewear doubled its numbers and it’s now valued at $3.2 billion after raising $240million from investors. In an email according to Bloomberg, Kim stated that the funding would be able to allow them to bring focus to their customers.

When it took off in 2019, Kim had an issue with the brand name she chose. The shapewear was originally named kimono, but there was some drama due to the name being insensitive to the Japanese culture.

Skims was initially a shapewear line but due to its success and selling out immediately, it expanded to loungewear and sweaters on the onset of the pandemic. Boosting its revenue, SKIMS is partnering up with team USA in supplying underwear and loungewear for athletes in the 2022 Olympics.

SKIM is now a household name and Kim has been able to do collaborate with brands like Fendi to create a capsule collection. The initial launch included a leather dress and swimsuit that brought in over $3million in the first ten minutes. Kim is very passionate about her brand and this is seen from her posts adorning the pieces from Skims. Her social media posts have boosted her sales and this is from the $275 million she made last year. She hopes that this year they will hit their target of $400 million.

Customers are obsessed with the shapewear because it's color inclusive and its nine different shades of nude is a favorite of myriads. It has also come in shades of deep brown for darker brown-skinned women who have very limited options when it comes to finding makeup or undergarments that match their skin tones. It also has inclusive sizing that is broader.

SKIMS offers its merchandise in sizes varying from 2xs to 5 xs. The brand does not have a separate plus-sized section on its website because it aims in embracing all sizes.

Skims revamped a product that has been around for the longest time and made it stylish and comfortable.

The idea behind skims is that it has to be comfortable to be worn around the house while lounging. Even though not everyone is a fan of wearing shapewear at home, the idea of wearing shapewear comfortably is music to almost every woman around the globe. As it’s expanding to include a lot more garments, we cannot wait to see what SKIMS has for us next.
