Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Dignity,Justice, and the Continuous Zeal to Fight for the underrepresented

Six decades ago, Ruth Bader Ginsburg applied to work as the Supreme Court's clerk. Despite studying in two of the best American law schools with hard ringing recommendations, she was rejected because of her gender (a woman).

This didn't deter the great RBG from her purpose. Ten years later, she sent a brief to the Supreme Court - one that would for the first time, strike down a law against gender discrimination.

The outspoken, astute, and passionate advocate for the rule of law, civil liberties, and women's rights succumbed to cancer on September 18.

Despite her seriousness about the subjects mentioned above, she could highlight serious issues with humor hence the name "Notorious RBG". She once commented that Notorious BIG and herself came from Brooklyn, New York and that made them have various things in common.

Some of the agendas she pushed forward included securing women's rights to:

• Acquire a business loan without a male co-signer

• Obtain birth control without having to obtain the husband's permission

• Obtain or retain employment while pregnant

• Obtain a job without gender-based discrimination

• Obtain a mortgage without a male co-signer

• Acquire a credit card without a male co-signer

• Start a business without a male co-signer

• Open a checking account without a male co-signer

• Equal consideration to be executors of their children estates

• Pension benefits similar to male coworkers

• Not to be forced to provide proof of sterilization to obtain/retain employment
