Setting Your Sights on 2022 – 5 Ways to Use Visualization

In the last quarter of 2021, it's time to take stock of accomplishments and plan our goals for the new year ahead. For businesses, it’s also a time to make that last push for productivity before closing out the books. Using visualization to focus the mind on what you manifest for 2022 will help to create a clear picture of what lies ahead.

Visualization is defined as, "the representation of an object, situation, or set of information as a chart or other image" or "the formation of a mental image of something". You will begin to form your images of what you would like to accomplish, where you see yourself when the goal is attained. Forming these images in your mind will make them tangible giving you the motivation you need to press on and make it happen. You're programming your mind, (or making your mind up periodt.) that what you see in your future can and will be manifested so much so, you can feel it.

The visualization technique can take some getting used to. It is a powerful method that can be used for motivation, productivity, physical health, stress reduction, and many other aspects of life. Here are a few visualization tips for those who want to get the year started being connected to and focused on their future in 2022.

Relax

Although easier said than does sometimes, relaxing is the first step to visualization. Relaxation creates a free and open mind to allow the thought to flow freely. When you are stressed, overtired, and bogged down by the day-to-day, your mind will throw up roadblocks to the positive imagery attempting to navigate itself to consciousness.

Don't Be Discouraged When the Distractions Do Come…

…and they will, especially for newbies. Shutting the noise out of our heads may seem impossible with having to remember schedules, plan dinners, and meet deadlines. Don't chastise yourself or give up. Learn how to redirect. Pause for a moment. Concentrate on your breath and body. Acknowledge the wayward thought then get back to where you were, aware, conscious, and connected.

Write Your Vision and Make it Plain

Remember Gabrielle Union in Being Mary Jane? Put your vision in your sights, literally. Use notecards, post-its, or a dry erase board to write your goals and desires on. Place them somewhere you know you cannot avoid seeing it, like the mirror. If you have a monetary goal, write a check for it with the goal date and frame it. Vision boards, journaling, or you can even use an undated planner to chart the course for your future. By seeing the goal in your face your mind will be able to associate the goal with what you visualize in your mind and the emotional connection to it.

Be flexible. Allow Your Vision to Have Alternative Outcomes.

Remember life will still have its shifts. Of course, you want to lose the weight, make the money, or finish the project. But what if that doesn't happen? What if the vision needs to change or come to an end? Tell yourself, "My goal will be achieved, yet I am open to the possibilities". Weigh all the options and possible outcomes without dwelling on the negative. Acknowledge them and move on. Stay current in the best possible knowing that you will still have success in the alternative.

Positive Vibes Only

Keep all those negative thoughts that try to push through in check. They are not welcome at this table so don't pull out a chair. Make your mind, body, and space radiate with positive thoughts. Don't second guess what you're trying to accomplish.

The Wrap Up

Adding visualization to set the vibe for your new year is a great add to your planning process. Create the vision to manifest your desires and goals to start your 2022 in a positive light.
