Executive producer, director, and actor Tracy Ellis – Ross has explained her sentiments on being happily single. On a sit down new interview with PORTER, a NET-A-PORTER’s digital title, she opened up on leading a single life in her 40’s.
For years, Ross has spoken about the significance of not putting pressure on females, especially on women of color, to settle down and have children, unless it’s something they want genuinely.
During the interview, she expounds on her life choices and how she managed to stay alone during the worldwide covid-19 pandemic.
“It’s one of the reasons I’m passionate about telling the stories I relay to people. I wish I had known.
Other choices existed, not just about my way of living but how I could feel about how my life will turn out,” explains Ross.
“The society I grew up in made me dream of my wedding. I, however, wish I dreamt about my life instead. There are many ways to create happiness, make a family, find love, and not talk about them. It brings about a lot of judgment and shame,” she continues.
She adds that being happily single doesn’t mean she’s against romance or love. Ross explains she plans to live her life to the fullest, as she wouldn’t know what to do in a relationship.
