The Los Angeles Lakers hoisted the Larry O’Brien Championship trophy last night after handily defeating the Miami Heat in Game 6. As the bubble comes to a shrink, let’s recap some of the best moments from this Finals’ series.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis were absolutely unguardable throughout the duration of the playoffs. Together, they meshed well and received a great influx of support from role members such as Rajon Rondo and Alex Caruso.
Alex Caruso proved to be an elite defender and Rondo stepped up at the most critical juncture, executing efficiently down the stretch. Rondo went on to notch the most playoff assists (104) of all-time.
LeBron James became the first player to win the Finals MVP with three different franchises and acquired his fourth ring in the process.
The key facet to LeBron’s game comes down to his accessibility and accountability. He is always available for his teammates (never missed a playoff game in his career) and always takes responsibility for what needs to be done to reach the ultimate goal.
Interestingly enough, Dion Waiters would have received a ring no matter who won this series. He started the season in Miami but ended in the bubble with the Lakers. Technically, he was apart of both teams and would have got a ring & cash incentive, regardless.
The Heat ran out of flames as they exhausted a great deal of energy to muscle a Game 5 victory. In Game 6, they trailed by thirty or more for the majority of the ball game.
It is clear that Miami has formed a reputable collective in the Eastern Conference. Young guys like Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn and Bam Adebayo have great potential to grow and support their superstar, Jimmy Butler.
By winning his fourth title, LeBron has firmly cemented himself within G.O.A.T. talks.
Furthermore, his social justice push will continue as 22 out of 30 NBA arenas will be used as polling supercenters in a few weeks.
